Welcome! It's been quite a while since I've posted here. The craziness that is the college soccer season is largely to blame - as I've written about previously. With 2016 in the rearview, I've finally had some time to get back to writing.
This week is the MLS Player Combine. I recently teamed up with Aaron Nielsen to create profiles on the participants, the vast majority of which recently finished their careers at the NCAA level. Check out the profiles and write-up over at American Soccer Analysis. As a preview, here's one of the ACC-related charts you'll find in the article, followed by the link:
I plan to do the same for the remaining matches on Tuesday and Thursday. It will be interesting to see how guys follow up strong showings (Daniel Johnson, you're in the spotlight) and how some others recover from less-than-stellar performances.
The hope with all of this is to provide some background and insight for people checking out the combine who may or may not have much knowledge of the college players who are there. My insight obviously has a very ACC lean to it, along with bits and pieces on any players I've seen in non-conference matches over the last couple years. Three matches in an unfamiliar environment can be a difficult way to evaluate a player though, so the more information, the better.
As always, thanks for following and I hope to chat with some of you on Tuesday/Thursday!
